Tips On How to Write One Step-by-Step:

 

1. I am… 

 

(use when the person you are speaking to does not know you. Can include, "I am from..."))

2. Your identity:  choose who you will be for this situation based on position you are applying for and your experience.

i.e. " I am a warehouse worker", "individual", etc.

 

3. Further describe your identity.

 

Select  words to describe your identity. Use "Power words"

 

Reveal something special and significant about yourself, i.e.

”proficient warehouse worker” or “empathetic and multi-faceted individual.

 

4. Highlight relevant key qualities, skills sets, experience:

 

Name three or four areas of your skills & abilities:

  

(Examples from Tip #2, position above: Warehouse Worker)

 

*Solid understanding of warehouse operations.

 

*Sharp attention to detail.

 

*Qualified to use shipping/receiving forms and computer applications.

 

5. Elaborate on the key qualities, skills & experience you highlighted.

 

Provide more detail or examples about each one; examples of duties or how you demonstrated those skills, and years of experience.

 

6. Conclusion: how you would make a difference to this employer?
